One of the greatest success stories of the digital revolution has been eBay, which hails itself as a “diverse and passionate community of individuals and small businesses.” With millions of items sold and traded each day, eBay is more than the “World's Online Marketplace”, it's a culture unto itself. And like many Internet ventures, a minority of people strike it rich, others do OK and some end up chasing a fantasy.

Documentary filmmakers Marcus Vetter und Stefan Tolz traveled around the world to find people looking to fulfill their dreams, large and small, through eBay, from e-auction moguls to everyday people just trying to make a buck. In their search across this international phenomena, Traders' Dreams' demonstrates why part of eBay's immense marketing power is the promise that everyone can be a self-made success. But it turns out there's no blueprint or magic formula and everyone has to find the digital Holy Grail.

Juxtaposing scenes of euphoria and prosperity with those of struggle and frustration, these are stories ranging from intense drama to whimsical comedy. In the end, it turns out there are millions of different little worlds on the universe's online marketplace and all of them are eBay.
