RIP You SOB --
Not everyone dies to be mourned by his loved ones. In a small fishing village in the Canary Islands, Don Lucio, a man hated by everyone in town, passes away suddenly. There is no room to hold the wake in the tiny apartment he and his wife, Elosia, shared, so Isabel, a neighbor, ends up with the corpse at her small apartment. Don Lucio's coffin, big, black and glossy (the Wooden Box), is a sort of Rolls-Royce of coffins and was paid for it in advance because Eloisa has little money herself and no idea where Don Lucio has hidden his ill-gotten gains from years of extortion and bribery. While the widow does her best to forget her sorrow, the inhabitants of the building file past the coffin to settle their scores with the deceased. While they offer Eloisa perfunctory condolences, Don Lucio was such a horrible man they don't even pretend to be sorry. Just how terrible he was is evidenced by the painful anecdotes the neighbors share and the indignities they commit upon the corpse when no one is looking. When the bereaved widow emerges from the local beauty parlor looking like a new woman, several of the villagers suddenly become very interested in helping her look for the missing money. Had Elosia's tears of grief really been tears of relief? It turns out that Don Lucio may have a hard time resting in peace. Please note: Online ticket sales end 24 hours before each event.
