A tale of the East Indian diaspora as seen through the eyes of a young doctor. Filmmaker Sarab Neelam's first feature tells the tale of a young man from a traditional family, who through both education and exposure finds himself caught between a patriarchal father who values the old ways versus the bottom line centered world he is entering as a brilliant researcher. Searching for status and power at a private hospital in Detroit. Leaving a comfortable life in Toronto and the security of family and the Sikh community of which he is a respected member Heading to Detroit on the promise of a position as head of a department that will make him one of the most respected research doctors in the world. The temptation to abandon his former life is great. Along the way he must endure bias and misunderstanding, make a choice between the girlfriend he left behind and a new love who does not share his families traditions. In the external world and within his own family he must make choices that will have unforseen consequences, We find ourselves constantly expecting certain reactions about choices being made and being delighted when a characters response doesn't fit the mold. With his turban he is often mistaken for a muslim and becomes a target of extra scrutiny wherever he goes. Torn between the need for acceptance amongst his colleages and the desire to conform to the expectations of his family our protagonist finds himself on the heros journey, a journey into the heart of what it means to be caught between two cultures and ultimately what it means to be truly human.
