No one should ever underestimate the determination and drive of the human spirit. This film by first time filmmaker ,18 year old Jared Martin, explores the lives of eight young Sudanese refugees who were displaced from their homes in the late 1980's due to the brutal Sudan civil war. Pitted against an Arab Militia, wild animals, starvation, and thirst, the boys survived a trek of 1,000 miles and twelve years in refugee camps before coming to the United States. Enduring unimaginable hardships this is their story. The film embodies America's model of, “give us your poor, your tired, your huddled masses longing to be free.”
