A Guitar Gently Weeps --

Some musicians are blessed with both the extraordinary ability and innate drive that lead to fame and fortune. Others, perhaps as skilled, but maybe not as lucky or hungry for success, are content to toil in the background and let the music be their muse.

Crazy is inspired by the life of Hank Garland, a legendary guitar player who emerged from Nashville in the 1950's. Blessed with incomparable, natural talent, Hank quickly established his reputation as the finest session player in Nashville and played with artists such as Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Patsy Cline and The Everly Brothers. Moving effortlessly from country to rock-a-billy to jazz, Hank's superlative style was also recognized by jazz greats like Dave Bruebeck, Gary Burton, Joe Morello and Joe Benjamin.

The 50's Nashville scene was dominated by a small group of executives and musicians who controlled the entire industry. Hank, whose passion was for the music, often came into conflict with the business side, which he found restrictive and frustrating. Yet it was real-life romance, rather than his aversion to business, which may have led to the demise of Hank's career.

During a show in Chicago, Hank met Evelyn, who was beautiful, fascinating and enticing. Head over heels in love, they quickly married and became almost inseparable. But when confronted with Hank's obsessive dedication to his music, Evelyn began to demonstrate a desperate need to make her his only love. After 43 years, Hanks suddenly disappeared from the music scene, but his virtuoso skills live on in countless hit records and one, amazing solo jazz album.

Sometimes, even the greatest guitarists have to make a choice about which riff to play.
