90 Miles refers to the distance between Cuba and southern Florida, a region that has become synonymous with Latin culture. At the core of that culture is its music.
One of the seminal artists who helped bring Latin Music into the American mainstream is Grammy Award winner, Gloria Estefan. Latin music pioneers Chocolate Armenteros, Jose Feliciano and Carlos Santana reminisce about the early days of the Cuban Music cultural crossover, including stories and mini-biographies that provide a insider glimpse into these artists' lives, as the music featured throughout the documentary creates an even more personal connection to these stories.

Arts In Film/Cinema of Conscience
Art of the inspired souls whose compulsion to create art in the most dire of circumstances sometimes saved their lives, but also aided thousands of others to touch upon their experiences from within the most oppressive man-slaughter in recent history. Art is indeed a liberation song.

Longoni's new bio-pic about Michalangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, the supremely great and more-famous-than-ever late sixteenth and early seventeenth-century Italian artist, premiered in a long version at Lincoln Center, is a glorious spectacle with a charismatic star. Marked by rich interiors, often lit as in Caravaggio's paintings, panoramic shots, sweeping music, and large cast, this is a pleasure to watch. Beautiful to look at and richly eventful, if conventional, the film never errs in tone.

What does a grounded life of creative expression look and feel like in today's world? It is difficult to find, even among the most committed of artists in any medium, someone whose work is an unbroken rhythm with her life. Karen Karnes is such an artist. The constancy, the slow and even pacing, the focus and simplicity of her life are the context of her art --which comes not from her head, not from her ambition nor even from experimentation. Her work grows from her body and from her life.
